Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman James R. Walkinshaw (VA-11) released the following statement ahead of today’s House vote to extend the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits for three years. “Since being sworn in to Congress a few months ago, I’ve been fighting to save the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits to prevent health care costs from soaring for Fairfax families. Today, after months of obstruction, the House will finally vote. Let’s be clear: Republican leadership, doing Trump’s bidding, let these credits expire on January 1, spiking premiums and exacerbating the affordability crisis. In Virginia’s 11th district, 19,000 people are paying more, and 8,000 are at risk of losing coverage because Republicans let the credits expire. I’m voting yes to lower health care costs for my constituents.” ### |
