Congressman Walkinshaw knows that confronting climate change is a defining challenge, and an opportunity to build a cleaner, healthier, more prosperous future. On the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, he delivered on his commitment to make Fairfax carbon neutral and helped lead efforts to install solar on County buildings, convert the vehicle fleet to electric, and empower residents and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint. He spearheaded the County’s five-cent plastic bag fee, raising millions for litter prevention while slashing plastic pollution, and advanced the County’s Zero Waste initiative to cut landfill waste and embed sustainability into every part of local government.
In Congress, James supports bold federal action to mobilize federal investments in cheap clean energy, climate resilience, and green jobs. He is also fighting to secure expanded funding for the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Program to accelerate cleanup of one of our nation’s most vital waterways. Walkinshaw opposes reckless efforts to expand offshore drilling that threaten our coasts, our environment, and our economy. He is also working to repeal the anti-climate provisions of Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” including rollbacks on clean energy tax credits and incentives that will undermine America’s transition to renewable energy and drive up utility costs for hardworking families. |
