Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman James R. Walkinshaw (VA-11) released the following statement after House Democrats’ discharge petition to force a vote on extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits reached 218 signatures.

“Enough stalling, Speaker Johnson. Let’s vote today.

A majority of the House supports extending ACA premium tax credits. There is zero excuse for delay.

In Fairfax, Jack, a young dad, went uninsured so his wife and newborn could stay covered. If these tax credits expire, thousands of my constituents will lose coverage or face skyrocketing costs.

Congress shouldn’t leave for the holidays until we vote. Speaker Johnson: do the right thing. Bring it to the floor, and let’s vote today.”
