Our democracy is at a critical inflection point. The executive branch has repeatedly flouted court orders, bypassed due process, and threatened the foundational norms that sustain our republic. Congress must reassert its Constitutional authority and provide a check on the President.
As Chair of the Fairfax County Board’s Legislative Committee, Walkinshaw led efforts to expand early voting access, defend voting rights, and oppose suppression efforts out of Richmond. In Congress, James is a cosponsor of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and modernize protections of the Voting Rights Act. He also supports legislation to protect against partisan gerrymandering, guard election workers from harassment, and advance ethics, transparency, and accountability reforms, including the Protecting Our Democracy Act. |
