Dear Neighbor,

Representing Virginia’s 11th District in the U.S. House of Representatives is a tremendous honor and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our community. After eleven years as Chief of Staff to the late Congressman Gerry Connolly and nearly six years on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, I’m excited to take on this new role.

Since being sworn in on September 10, my team and I have been working around the clock to serve you.

Protecting Federal Workers and Contractors

One of my top priorities is to be an advocate for the hundreds of thousands of federal workers and contractors in our district. Unfortunately, President Trump’s reckless DOGE policies have caused real damage. That’s why, just moments after being sworn in, I introduced my first bill, which would require the President to come to Congress for an up or down vote before slashing federal agencies or jobs.

In my first week, I also carried forward four of Congressman Connolly’s signature bills to continue his fight for federal employees—delivering fair pay, secure retirements, protection against partisan attacks, and expanded family-building benefits like IVF. And because every worker deserves a voice on the job, I cosponsored legislation to strengthen collective bargaining rights.

A Big Win for Fairfax

I’m also proud to share that I’ve been appointed to the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee — a huge win for our community. Congressman Connolly served as the lead Democrat on the Oversight Committee and used his role there to advocate for federal workers and improve the efficiency of the federal government. This committee has jurisdiction over the entire federal government and has broad authority to investigate and conduct oversight of the Executive Branch.

My role on the Oversight Committee gives our community a voice in many of the key debates impacting our local economy and workforce.

Working to Prevent a Government Shutdown & Stop the Health Care Crisis

The federal government is currently operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) that was adopted in March 2025 and expires on September 30. If new funding legislation isn’t signed into law by midnight on September 30, the federal government will shut down.

At the same time, we face a health care crisis caused by the so-called Big Beautiful Bill signed into law earlier this year. That bill cut more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and failed to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits that have made health insurance premiums affordable for millions of working families. If nothing is done, health care costs will skyrocket and millions will lose their coverage.

I’m fighting to cancel the health care cuts and for a federal government that’s funded and functional. Sadly, the Trump Administration's policies have been shutting down federal agencies, offices, and programs all year. As a result, thousands of our neighbors have lost their jobs and many agencies are not delivering the services that American taxpayers have paid for.

I voted against a partisan funding plan that ultimately failed in the Senate. But I will continue working toward a bipartisan solution that prevents drastic cuts to health care, funds the government, and provides protections for federal workers and contractors.

We Are Here to Serve You

Staff Photo

Throughout my career, my top priority has been helping individuals and neighborhoods solve problems. Our office is open, fully staffed, and ready to serve you.

Whether it’s resolving an issue with Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, passports, the IRS, or immigration services, my team and I are here to help. You can also reach out if you’d like to:

  • Schedule a meeting.
  • Plan a tour of the Capitol or White House.
  • Request a U.S. flag flown over the Capitol to mark a special occasion.

I Want to Hear from You

COYR

This weekend, we held our first Congress on Your Corner. My staff and I spent an afternoon at the Oakton Library getting feedback directly from constituents and going to work solving their problems.

I’m also out in the community often, listening and learning directly from Fairfax residents. If your organization or neighborhood group is hosting an event, please let my office know — we want to stay up to date and connected with everything happening across our community.

Make sure to follow me on X, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, and Threads to stay up-to-date!

Walkinshaw in the Community

Church Visit

I was honored to celebrate First Baptist Church of Merrifield’s 155th Anniversary—a true pillar of faith and service in our community.

Healthworks

I was proud to visit HealthWorks, where families get care with or without insurance. But as more people lose coverage, clinics face tough choices. I’ll continue to fight for affordable health care so every family can get the care they need.

Oak Hill Day

It was great to join Oak Hill Day in the Braddock District, where neighbors toured the historic property, enjoyed music, and celebrated our community’s history.

Yours in service,
