Dear Neighbor, The government shutdown has come to an end, and thankfully federal workers will be getting paid soon. But, unfortunately, the spending package approved yesterday does not address the health care affordability crisis facing American families and does not provide long-term protections to prevent cuts to federal programs and jobs. Recently, I met 25-year-old Jack from Springfield. Jack and his wife are expecting their first child and were shocked when they saw that their premiums were set to double with the birth of their new child.

Dear Neighbor,

The government shutdown has come to an end, and thankfully federal workers will be getting paid soon.

They made the decision that Jack would go without health insurance next year – so that his wife and the baby could be insured. These are the decisions that thousands of parents, and family members, across Fairfax are making due to failed policies.

That’s why I’m pushing for a vote on a three-year extension of the expiring Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits through what is known as a discharge petition. If we reach 218 signatures, we can trigger a House vote on extending the ACA tax credits.

I’ll keep fighting for affordable health care and for our community. Period. For Jack’s family — and for every family that is being squeezed by skyrocketing premiums.

If your family is being impacted by this health care crisis, please consider sharing your story with me. Your voice helps me advocate on behalf of Fairfax in Congress to make care more affordable.

Honoring America’s Veterans

Fairfax County is home to nearly 65,000 military veterans. Their service to our nation ranges from World War II to the conflicts in today’s news. Our veterans have served us, so I firmly believe it’s our duty to honor and protect them.

I spent this Veterans Day with veterans and their families.

First, I joined VFW Post 8469 and American Legion Post 177 to pay tribute to those who’ve served and to reaffirm our shared duty to care for them here at home.

Next, I had the opportunity to join the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Kappa Kappa Chapter. They exemplify leadership and service to others.

I was grateful to participate in their Coleman Love Salute to Veterans and Brigadier General Charles Young Military Leadership Award Luncheon — and I’ll keep working in Congress to advance those same values of service, integrity, and community.

Fairfax County has many resources for veterans, and I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the available support programs.

In Congress, I'll always fight to ensure veterans in Northern Virginia receives the care and respect they deserve.

Federation of the Blind

I was honored to meet with the National Federation of the Blind – Fairfax Chapter to discuss protecting education and employment opportunities for Virginians with disabilities.

In Congress, I’ll keep fighting for fairness, dignity, and access for all.

NARFE

I met with local National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) chapters to discuss how federal workers and retirees are being harmed by RIFs and DOGE disruptions.

Fairfax is home to 80,000 federal workers, and on the Oversight Committee, I’m fighting to protect their jobs, benefits, and their retirement security earned through a lifetime of service.

Transportation

Strong transportation keeps communities connected. That is why I was proud to join Rep. Don Beyer and state and regional partners to break ground on the new Alexandria Fourth Track and Station, which will ease congestion and strengthen passenger rail across Northern Virginia.

In Congress, I’ll keep working to deliver the critical funding our region needs to expand transit options and reduce traffic.

The Fairfax County Kimchi Festival showcased the best of our community — culture, unity, and great food.

I’m proud to stand with Northern Virginia’s Korean American community.
